This is the kind of wine that wine geeks dream about. It’s our high-five, hit parade, hole-in-one waggle dance of a wine. the night we first tried it no superlatives were needed, no technical details analysed, hypothesised or broken down. just an all round, slow head-nod, palate-pause and “oh. yeaaaaaaaaah”. It’s a soul wine because you can taste the entire, overarching spectrum that brings this bottle together. A small single vineyard tended with great care by one couple since the 60’s. Working with nature and tradition with great energy and passion. It’s all in the glass…to describe Barbera as a grape would be as a goth that loves bake off. Dark and bleeding violet in appearance yet with piercing bright cherry and plump wild strawberry on the palate. It takes you on a journey that leaves you breathless once you have crossed its path.
