Petite Immortelle , France

Rousillon IS wine. It’s a land of stone, wind and sun. Anchored in the unforgiving first, battered by the second and baked by the third. Its (older) people visually define “Swarthy” with crinkle-lined leathery faces, hearty hard-won yet generous smiles and lean-to gaits. The wine is nearly always a glorious reflection of the above. Sunny and warm yet with the grip and persistence of a herb defiantly growing from a soil-less crag. Herby and triumphant! Dark broody fruit in the glass that open like a slo-mo video on the palate to enthral its audience. Plenty of depth but plenty of joy too. Another wine from our Master of Wine friend .
