Fabien Jouves “Skin Contact”

This is orange wine done good. we have tasted alot of orange wine done bad to get here so we know what you mean when you widen your eyes and recoil from our suggestion of buying it with mild horror. Skin contact wines can be feral and aggressive, like a spoilt teen haggling for a room with air-con after a ten day hike in Thailand (nooooooo, NOT me!).

This is skin contact in the most gentle sense, the breakout group from a full moon party chilling in the sand. all kinds of unusual textures and aromas, tropical frangipane, lychee, jasmine, apricot, lemon, melon, barley. it’s beguiling and soulful, deft and generous. this does sound a bit Mills and Boon but it has a savoury edge too that makes it much more like “The beach” before the sh!t hit the fan!

In short, in spite of, or despite it’s orangeness it’s fresh, it’s dry and it’s clean, utterly compelling to drink and absolutely the talk of the table right now.
