Rosé these days is so Sandra Dee. All pretty, pale and neat with names referencing peace, angels and dappled sunlight. Well this is rosé is Sandy after Danny Zuko gave her his leather jacket and took her through the lost city. A heady, gutsy blend of Malbec and Tannat - I mean “Tannat” just sounds so hard that it could never be pretty (it rarely is!). Deep in colour it bleeds into the glass like a fresh self- inked tattoo. It roars into your palate with the passion of berries that fought off birds so they could be made into wine. Yeeeeeaaaahhhh that’s right. Bird. fighting. berries. and guess what - even though it’s dark it is BONE DRY. BONE. ICE DESERT. DRY. we really should be alot more woke about rosé and it’s totally fabricated paleness to dryness scale. So anyway i’m going to put one in the fridge before popping out for a copy of the Guardian and a new tattoo.
